On the bridge of the STETTIN
There is an engine telegraph on both sides of the bridge. The one on the port side can be seen. To the right is the radar. Behind the timber cladding is the heating system. "Stettin" was the first German ice-breaker with a heated bridge.

The bridge can be entered from both sides. To the right is the port ladder to the boat-deck. See the entrance to the chartroom to the left of this door. The wire ropes at the front, left, control both the whistle and ice-siren

Helmsman's position
In front of the helm is the gyroscope compass. The movements of the helm are transmitted by axiometers over numerous detours to the steam-driven rudder engine more than 20 metres distant. No servo equipment is used.

In the salon
This shows the accommodation and dining-room for the crew. There are four seats with red-plush sofas for 26 men.

'Steam Radio' and antique telephone
In the salon, which is about in its original state, there is a telephone and radio from the thirties. Both instruments are functional and in good working order.

In the galley
Besides relatively new equipment, the original steam-heated copper cooking pot (top left) can still be used as occasion arises.

Cook at work
The cook is without doubt the most important member of the crew. Crew members expect a good meal after working very hard and to prepare themselves for the next watch. A good cook guarantees a satisfied crew.

Passage to the salon and pantry
A passage leads to the salon and pantry. Many groups of visitors have perpetuated the existence of their associations by attaching their heraldic badges to the bulkheads.
